The rules have changed

In 2006, the labor relations reality in our region’s healthcare environment
shifted dramatically when one of the country’s most prominent unions announced the launch of the largest drive ever to unionize hospitals throughout New England. This well-funded campaign will be very different from anything
New England hospitals have previously experienced. The old labor relations
model of immediate management/union confrontation may or may not be the best path for your hospital.

At a rally held after the announcement, the President of the union welcomed
the presence of Boston’s political leaders. Prominent political leaders at a rally for a union that hasn't organized many healthcare workers yet? This is only the beginning. Using distinctive corporate campaign tactics, the 275,000 members
of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) have already laid the groundwork for unionizing healthcare in New England unlike anything seen in
our region.
